The hugely popular Chandamama magazine was a classic Indian monthly magazine for children which depicted mythological and historical stories. It was famous for its illustrations. It was originally started in Telugu by B.Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani, well known Telugu Film producers. It was edited by Kodavatiganti Kutumba Rao a hugely well-known figure in Telugu literature. Kodavatiganti Kutumba Rao edited the magazine for 28 years until his death in August 1980. The magazine which started first on Telugu and Tamil expanded its horizon and started printing in twelve Indian languages as well as English.
The last issue of the magazine was published in March 2013, but now the official website has started uploading their original editions online, all available for free download. This will bring back huge childhood memories and nostalgia for several groups of people who have grown up reading Chandamama storybooks.The online editions include versions in English, Hindi, and Telugu but the website is planning to include other languages such as Sanskrit, Assamese, Oriya, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, and Tamil soon enough. The Indian mythology stories were completely written by Kodavatiganti Kutumba Rao and also honed new talent and young writers in Telugu to adapt the writing style that he made popular in Andhra Pradesh.
